Parent Survey for 2018-2019 School Year

We are getting ready to end the 2017-2018 school year and beginning to think about next year! If you have information that you would like to share, please take a few moments to answer the Class Assignment Parent Survey. We know that a good teacher‐student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please DO NOT request specific teachers, as changes in personnel may occur and classes are also impacted by increase/decrease in enrollment. It is far more valuable to share your child’s particular academic or behavioral information.

For full details, see the Flyer about Uncle Slam's Reading Program (PDF)

If your child will be 5 years old by September 30, 2018,
it’s time to register for Kindergarten!

Parents and children eligible for kindergarten are invited to an overview of the school’s kindergarten program on Thurusday, April 26, 2018 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in our school cafeteria.

Rising kindergarten students will meet our kindergarten teachers in the classroom for a special welcome and activities.  Parents will meet in the cafeteria to receive an overview of GFES and the kindergarten program.  A kindergarten teacher will present an overview of the kindergarten curriculum and the daily schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for parents unsure of whether or not their child is ready for kindergarten to come, listen, and make an informed decision.

Click here for directions on activating or customizing your News You Choose account.

The name of the Keep in Touch (KIT) system will change to e-Notify Blackboard Connect and only include emergency and essential information such as emergency messages, delayed openings and school closings, attendance messages and low lunch balance information. Enrollment is automatic and based on the information in SIS.

Other school news will transition to the new, cost-neutral FCPS communication system called News You Choose. Parents will be able to customize the type and frequency of the FCPS communications they receive.
