Orientation

Orientation Rooms – Fri Sept 2, Tues, Sept 6
During New Student Orientation and on the First Day of School, students will report to their orientation room rather than their first period class. Students, please write down the name and room number of your orientation period so that you are prepared for the first day of school. Even if you have a schedule, all students must report to orientation to get any last minutes schedule changes that may have been made.
New Student Orientation – all students will report to the Auditorium first, then proceed to their orientation room to pick up an up-to-date schedule.
First day of School – all students will report to their Orientation room to pick up an up-to-date schedule, then they will be dismissed to their first period class.

Opening of School Summer Mailing

This week Lanier will be mailing home forms and a Welcome Back Letter that contains information about Eagle Fly By, The Resource Fair, New Student Orientation, The First Day of School, and Back to School Night.

Please note that only those students who return their completed Emergency Care Form, Health Information Form, SR&R Signature Page, and Science Contract at the Eagle Fly-By will receive a copy of their schedule and locker at this event. All other students will receive their schedule on the first day of school.

FCPS Optional

Book Your Summer is a summer reading incentive program for all K-12 students in Fairfax County Public Schools.  “READ!” bingo cards can be accessed and submitted on line at www.fcps.edu/is/book. Paper copies can be brought to school.  Students successfully participate if they achieve a “READ!” across the card in any direction. Deadline is September 7, 2016.  Students may submit more than one entry.

Participating students will be eligible for a chance to win prizes.  In every school, students at each grade level will be randomly selected to receive $50 in books of their choice.  A single student at each school will be randomly selected to receive a laptop.

Thomas Jefferson Information

Are you interested in learning more about the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology admission process? If so, please join us on Wednesday, September 21st from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Lanier M.S. Library to hear a presentation from a TJHSST representative who will provide information about the school as well as details on how to apply for admission. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 14 by 4:00 pm. Information fyer here.
