Important Immunization Requirement: Do You Have a Student Entering Sixth Grade in September?

If yes, he or she may need a booster dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis). Sixth grade students cannot begin school in September without documentation of having had the Tdap booster. Parents or guardians should ask their private health care provider, or the health department, to review their child’s immunization record if they are unsure if their child has received the Tdap booster. Documentation must be provided to the school registrar as soon as possible. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/hd/hdclinicsite.htm

2016 Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Awards

Congratulations Mosby Woods!

The Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award was earned by 166 schools that met all state and federal benchmarks and made progress toward the goals of the governor and the board.

“In many cases, the Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes the successes of teachers, principals and other educators who are on the front line of the commonwealth’s effort to narrow and ultimately close achievement gaps,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Steven R. Staples.
