Meet the PES 2nd Grade Team

harris Mrs. Harris will begin her second year with FCPS at Providence in Second grade. She has been teaching for seventeen years. She received her Bachelors at University Of North Carolina at Greensboro and also has an Associates degree in Business Adminstration. She enjoys reading suspense novels, spending time with her family, and visiting the beach.
ko Ms. Hee Young Ko, Second Grade Teacher, will begin her third year teaching at Providence. She graduated from University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Teaching. Outside of school, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and outdoor activities. She is excited for another year at Providence!
mckeown Mrs. Jeannie McKeown, Second Grade teacher, is beginning her fifteenth year of teaching 2nd grade. This will be her tenth year to teach in FCPS at Providence Elementary. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor Degree in Arts and Sciences and her Masters of Education. She loves the outdoors, enjoys reading, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Dodger.
neely Ms. Debra Neely, Second Grade teacher, will begin her fifteenth year teaching at Providence Elementary and her twenty-third year in Fairfax County. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University, her Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from George Mason University, and her Reading Specialist Endorsement from the University of Virginia. She likes to play soccer, read, and play with her two Australian Shepherds, George and Max.
parker Mrs. Kristine Parker, SpEd teacher, is starting her 12th year teaching at Providence. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University and a Masters in Special Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership, both from George Mason University. When she is not at Providence, she keeps busy with her daughter Kasey and two sons, Kyle and Kaleb. In her free time she enjoys playing outside with her dog Roxi, watching her kids play sports and hanging out with friends and family.
plumb Mrs. Kelly Plumb, Second Grade teacher, has been teaching for fourteen years, and this is her tenth year teaching at Providence. She loves teaching 2nd grade, and she has taught 3rd and 4th grade as well. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from William and Mary and a Master's degree in Reading Education from the University of Virginia. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Plumb stays busy playing with her 4 year old son Colin, spending time with her husband, reading books and watching movies.
stras Mrs. Meggan Strasbaugh, ESOL teacher, is starting her 6th year at Providence. She has been an ESOL teacher for 11 years, taught 5th grade for 4 years, and served as a Mentor Resource Teacher in the county. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in Elementary Education, and George Mason University with a Masters in Multilingual/Multicultural Education. She enjoys spending time with her 2 children and husband, going to the beach, and traveling.
sutter Mrs. Melissa Sutter is beginning her 13th year at Providence as a Special Education teacher. She grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Toledo. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, loves to cook, hiking, watching sports, and loves the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns.
taubken Mrs. Courtney Taubken, Second Grade teacher, is beginning her 8th year at Providence teaching 2nd grade, and her 10th year in FCPS. She previously taught in Ohio before making Northern Virginia her home. In addition to teaching, she is working towards her graduate degree and her school librarian endorsement. She loves being a mommy to her 3 daughters and mischievous puggle, and spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoys cooking, baking, reading, and spending time outdoors.
