Meet the PES 6th Grade Team

breen Mrs. Linda Breen, Instructional Assistant, has been with FCPS for over 30 years. She loves her job as a special education IA here at Providence. In her spare time she loves spending time with her grandkids. 
campbell Mary Campbell is beginning her 14th year as an ESOL Teacher for FCPS at Providence ES. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from James Madison University and her ESOL Endorsement from the University of Virginia. Mary lives in Fairfax City with her husband Mark, her two children Kelly and Jackson, and her Golden Retriever Bindi. She enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, quilting, gardening, and taking long walks with Bindi.
gevirtz Mrs. Leslie Gevirtz, SpEd teacher, is starting her 13th year at Providence! She grew up in New York and has a degree in Elementary & Health Education from Brockport State University and a master's in Special Education from the University of Albany. She is also a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. She roots for the New York Giants, NY Mets and the Capitals. When she's not teaching, she's hanging out with her husband, and faithful dog, Hudson. Her twins, Phillip lives in FL. and Alex who is senior at ODU in Norfolk. She is also a very proud grandma of twins; Sydney and Ari who live in AZ.
kelleher Ms. Kelleher is entering her sixth year teaching sixth grade. She loves being a Providence Panther! She earned her Bachelor's degree at Virginia Tech, and a Masters in Elementary Education at George Mason University. She went to Fairfax County Public Schools throughout her own education, then cheered on the Hokies while studying at Virginia Tech. Outside of the classroom, Miss Kelleher likes to jog and bike around the DC area, relax with her friends, and go to the beach with her family!
may Mrs. Laura May, Sixth Grade teacher, is beginning her 35th year as a teacher in Fairfax County, and her 17th year at Providence. She graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree, and then returned to GMU for a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She lives in Fairfax City, with one daughter, Aubrey, who is a second year teacher at Braddock Elementary.. In her spare time Mrs. May loves to travel, read, take Pilates classes, and cheer on the Redskins, George Mason Patriots Men's Basketball, and the Mosby Woods Raiders!
russell Mrs. Karen Russell is excited to be a part of the 6th grade team! She has taught kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth grades. She has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master's in Elementary Education, both from the University of Phoenix. Karen lives in Fairfax with her husband, Jack, her two daughters, and cat. Carrly is attending NOVA and Jillian is an 9th grader, at Robinson Secondary School. Karen grew up in Fairfax County and attended Parklawn, Holmes, and Jefferson. She loves her Washington Nationals and Redskins! When she is not in the classroom she likes to hang out with her family and relax.
sanchez Mrs. Andiana Sanchez is excited for her second year at Providence ES as a Special Education Teacher. Previously, she worked as an IA with FCPS for the past 3 years. She is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Special Education with George Mason University and has received an Art Degree from University of Maryland. Andi enjoys painting, reading, crocheting, and making fun items for her guinea pigs.
teitsma Mr. Corey Teitsma is beginning his 8th year teaching and second as a Providence Panther. He earned his Bachelor's degree at Michigan State University. He previously taught in North Carolina for three years and Prince William County Schools for three years. In his free time, Mr. Teitsma enjoys watching and playing sports, hanging out with his wife and three dogs, and everything Michigan State related.
thorpe Ms. Melisa Thorpe is originally from Miami, Florida, but she has been living in the DC metro area for over 20 years. She graduated from the University of Florida, and she loves the beach, reading and biking. She has two cats, and she is excited for her second year at Providence.
