Meet the PES Kindergarten Team

alnaji Mrs. Mona Al-NAJI, Instructional Assistant, for the last 12 years. She loves to work with students and has 3 girls of her own. In her spare time she loves to cook.
bajwa Ms. Bajwa is starting her 6th year teaching Kindergarten at Providence Elementary. She studied Criminal Justice at Virginia Commonwealth University and then received her Masters in Elementary Education from George Mason University. She enjoys traveling to different countries with her husband, working out, and watching the ID channel! Oh, and go Cowboys!
booher Mrs. Lara Booher, Kindergarten teacher, is beginning her 11th year teaching at Providence. She earned her undergraduate degree from Allegheny College and her Masters of Education Degree, specializing in reading instruction, from California University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Booher has three daughters, Ella, Andrea, and Avery. She loves teaching, creating art, playing outside, and reading books
bowen Ms. Wendy Bowen, Kindergarten teacher, has been teaching at Providence ES for seventeen years. She taught second grade for five years and kindergarten for the remainder the time. Wendy is a graduate of James Madison University and has a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She also has a post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education and is working on her ESOL certification. Wendy loves children and is enjoying being a Aunt to her six year old and 2 year old nephews. Wendy went to elementary school in Fairfax County. She enjoys listening to music/singing, watching the Food Network/cooking, and doing CrossFit.
ferencz Mrs. Faith Ferencz, Instructional Assistant, is starting her 18th year in Fairfax County Public Schools. She works in Special Education and is trained in Applied Behavior Analysis methodology and Professional Crisis Management (PCM). She enjoys working with children with special needs, spending time with her friends and five grandchildren, reading and watching movies.
gonzalez Ms. Michelle Gonzalez, Kindergarten teacher will begin her seventh year teaching at Providence. She received her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from James Madison University. Ms. Gonzalez is passionate about opening children’s eyes to cultural diversity. Her hobbies include playing with her dog, traveling and practicing yoga. She spent this summer reading by the pool, and spending time with friends and family.
hagen Tara Hagen, Instructional Assistant, is excited to join the Providence Kindergarten team this year. She has a Nutrition and Dietetics degree from Iowa State University and worked with the WIC program before becoming a stay at home mom for a number of years. She has 3 daughters, 2 at Robinson and 1 away at college. Tara enjoys hiking, spending time by the water, and watching her daughters in their sports and activities.
lupo Mrs. Celia Lupo, FECEP teacher, has taught in FCPS for nine years and two years in Arlington County. Prior to joining Providence, she spent five years teaching Preschool Special Education for FCPS and two years teaching Early Headstart. Celia received her Masters of Education from George Mason University with endorsements in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education and English As A Second Language. When she is not teaching, Celia loves spending time with her two beautiful daughters. Celia is very excited to start her fifth year in the FECEP/Headstart classroom at Providence.
machen Mrs. Patti Machen, Instructional Assistant, is in her 7th year as a Kindergarten IA. Prior to joining Providence, she was a preschool teacher for 10 years. Mrs. Machen was born and raised in Richmond, VA and is a graduate of UVA. She and her husband have 3 children. Mrs. Machen likes to spend her free time with her family at Lake Gaston, NC.
mallon Mrs. Cheryl Mallon, ESOL teacher, is excited to return to Providence for her 11th year. She received her degree in Elementary Education at Campbell University in North Carolina and an endorsement in ESOL in Virginia and North Carolina. She is currently studying to get her Master's Degree in Library Science at ODU. Cheryl enjoys spending time with her husband, three daughters and her dog. She looks forward to working with her colleagues and students this year.
paez Mrs. Patty Paez Instructional Assistant, has worked for FCPS since 2000 and at Providence Elementary since 2012. Patty is married, the mother of 2 wonderful kids Debbie and Patrick and now is a proud grandmother of 2. She has a love for dogs.
radoll Mrs. Cara Radoll was a Providence parent and is now a kindergarten IA. She has been on staff at Providence since 2012. She is married, has two children (a first year student at Furman University and a junior at Fairfax High School) and a fantastic chocolate lab. Mrs. Radoll loves to watch her kids play their sports (soccer and lacrosse) and play with her dog.
roettger Mrs. Suzanne Roettger, Kindergarten teacher, has been teaching in FCPS for seventeen years. She taught first grade for five years and kindergarten the rest of the time. Suzanne is a graduate of Syracuse University and has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She also went to University of Virginia for her master’s degree in Reading Education. When Suzanne is not at school, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and playing tennis.
sharma Mrs. Raj Sharma, FECEP Instructional Assistant, has been an Instructional Assistant in the FECEP Head Start program for the past 18 years.  She has been at Providence for the past 14 years  and before that she was at Oakton ES.  When Mrs. Sharma is not teaching she enjoys cooking and spending time with her three children.
snider Ms. Kathy Snider, Instructional Assistant, is beginning her 8th year as a kindergarten instructional assistant here at Providence. Prior to that she was a teacher at Fairfax United Methodist Preschool for four years. She has a daughter at Fairfax High School and another daughter and a son in college. Kathy enjoys being close to the water (pool, beach, lake or river) and reading.
sutter Mrs. Melissa Sutter is beginning her 13th year at Providence as a Special Education teacher. She grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Toledo. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, loves to cook, hiking, watching sports, and loves the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns.
wick Mrs. Alison Wickersham, Kindergarten Teacher will be starting her 11th year teaching at Providence Elementary School. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a degree in Art and Elementary Education. She enjoys working with young children and their families. Outside of school Mrs. Wickersham enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
