Meet the PES Resource Teachers

alan Mr. Alan Borhauer, Advanced Academics Resource Teacher He received his teacher certification and Bachelor of Arts degree through Arizona State University and his Master's degree in Technology Education Leadership from The George Washington University. During his career he has had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten through 8th grade in 6 different states In his free time he likes to reflect on new ways to improve student thinking while he works on the Providence courtyard. This year Mr. Borhauer is celebrating his Golden Anniversary of being in school (not teaching, just being in school).
breslin Mrs. Mary Breslin is excited to begin her second year at PES as a General Ed Instructional Assistant. She is a native of Connecticut and earned a BA in mathematics from Boston College. She enjoys working with all the different grade levels and classes throughout the day, especially supporting Math classes. Mary is hoping to continue to bring in her therapy dog "Marty" again this year. Mary and her husband have four children. This will be the 14th and last year that she will be a parent of a student at Providence. She loves to go the beach or travel to new places with her family.
cabacoy Mrs. Tracy Cabacoy, Title I Math Resource Teacher, is beginning her 10th year in teaching and her fourth year as Math Resource Teacher. She has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Liberty University and a Master's in Educational Leadership - Math Specialist from George Mason University. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends.
fallas Ms. Donna Fallas, Reading Specialist, loves teaching! During her 25 years in education she has had the privilege of working with students from ages 5 through adult . Donna has worked at Providence since 2009. She is an alumni of Fairfield University and St. John's University. Donna currently lives in Vienna, VA with her husband, Jeff, and her two children Elizabeth and Anthony. As people person, Donna is happiest when surrounded by her family and friends.
heisse Ms. Bissan Heise, Guidance Counselor, is starting her 5th year at Providence Elementary. She attended George Mason University for graduate school in which she received her Master’s degree in school counseling. She also has an undergraduate degree in psychology. In her spare time, Bissan enjoys playing the piano, reading, and spending time with her husband, family and friends.
hood Mrs. Katie Hood begins her 20th year of teaching and her 2nd year at Providence as the Title 1 Resource teacher. Katie previously worked for Montgomery County Public Schools as a 2nd grade, 3rd grade, Reading Recovery and ESOL Transition teacher. She’s also taught preschool and pre-Kindergarten. She earned a Master's degree in Leadership in Teaching and a Second Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Loyola University of Maryland. Katie's favorite activity is spending time with her husband and two children.
kherad Mrs. Kheradmand earned a M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and a M.A. from Middle Tennessee State University. She has been a Reading Specialist in FCPS for 17 years and is excited to begin her 15th year at Providence. She enjoys spending time with her family.
mayrides Ms. Lauren Mayrides, librarian, is beginning her 12th year teaching and 6th year as a teacher-librarian. She received her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Penn State University and went on to complete a master's program with a focus in library science at Old Dominion University. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing sports, running, yoga, and hanging out with her friends, family, and bulldog.
phillips Mrs. Sarah Phillips is a STEAM Teacher and a Science Resource teacher. Before teaching in the STEAM Lab (now starting the sixth year), she taught fourth grade for eight years. After doing her undergraduate work at the University of Virginia, she spent time in New York to earn a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Teachers College at Columbia University. She loves spending time with her family (4 year old son and 2 year old daughter!), traveling to NY to see her husband's family, reading, taking lots of photos, scrapbooking, and cooking.
rueffert Mr. Mark Rueffert, TSSPec, is entering his 15th year working in Fairfax County Public Schools.  He started teaching fourth grade at Bull Run Elementary School in Centerville for six years.  He then became the School Based Technology Specialist at Lake Anne and held that position for two years.  Mark graduated from the University of Virginia and received his Master’s degree Elementary Education from Marymount University.  Mark likes to visit Myrtle Beach when he takes vacation. 
rupp Mrs. Sarah Rupp, Guidance Counselor, is in her 12th year as a school counselor at Providence Elementary School. Prior to being a school counselor she worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and has lived in many places due to her husband’s military career. She has a Masters degree in counseling from George Mason University. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. Her eldest daughter is a Navy helicopter pilot stationed in San Diego and her youngest daughter is a recent graduate from the University of Florida. She enjoys spending time with family, friends, biking, hiking, and traveling.
schm Mrs. Diana Schmiesing, STEM/Tech Resource Teacher, has been teaching for over 30 years. She has a Master's degree in Elementary Education from George Mason University. In her free time she enjoys time with family and friends, the theater, reading and crafting.
shelton Mrs. Gina Shelton, SBTS, is starting her 26th year with FCPS and her 15th year as a School Based Technology Specialist. She received her Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instructional Technology from George Mason University and her undergrad in elementary education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and cheering on any sports team (college/pro) from Pittsburgh!
wagner Mrs. Pam Wagner is looking forward to another great year at PES as a General Ed IA. She enjoys the opportunity to be able to work with all the grade levels at PES. Mrs. Wagner has been a part of PES for over 16 years. She has 2 children who were PES students, they both are Fairfax High graduates. She loves the beach, spending time playing with her 4 dogs, and All Washington sports teams.
white Mrs. Donzella White, Reading Specialist, grew up in Farmville, Virginia and graduated from Virginia State University. She earned her Master's degree in Reading from James Madison University. She loves spending time with her family. Furthermore, she enjoys listening to music, running on the treadmill, cycling, reading, and traveling
wu Mrs. Tiffanie Wu, Math Resource Teacher, has been a classroom teacher and is currently our Instructional Coach. She has a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Tech and a second Master's in Educational Leadership as a Math Specialist from George Mason University. In her free time, she keeps busy with her family and friends.
