Meet the PES Specialist Team

ammiratu Ms. Christina Ammirati, Band Instructor, attended George Mason University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Education and then a Master of Music in Flute Performance two years later. She has been teaching elementary band for fourteen years and directs the annual Fairfax Area Honor Band. Ms. Ammirati achieved National Board Certification in 2007 becoming the first band director in FCPS to do so. She is an avid Nationals baseball fan and loves to attend Broadway musicals.
bawarski Mr. Bawarski is in his 12th year of teaching for Fairfax County Public Schools. He loves teaching PE at Providence ES because of our energetic and fun students. Mr. Bawarski has a Masters + 30 in Educational Leadership and I earned my Bachelors in PE at SUNY Cortland in New York State. I love to fish, play golf, basketball, eat good food, and watch every sport!
carpenter Mrs. Lauren Carpenter, Art teacher, is thrilled to continue to share her love of Art with her students for the 13th year at Providence Elementary. Mrs. Carpenter is also looking forward to working with the SCA again this year. She attended Kutztown University, graduating with dual degrees; a Bachelors in Art Education and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Crafts, as well as a Minor in Vocal Music Performance. Her passion for the creative process and the Arts continues beyond the walls of Providence, as she throws and hand-builds pottery, leads painting parties with her friends, sings in her church's worship band, country line dances, fuses glass, and creates jewelry. However, truth be told, spending time with her sweet little girl takes precedence lately.
  Dr. Joe Denti is excited to be back teaching band at Providence ES this year.  He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he earned his bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in music with an instrumental conducting concentration. In December 2013, Dr. Denti earned his doctor of musical arts degree in instrumental conducting from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.  He has been teaching instrumental music for twenty years, and is the commander and conductor of the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast since receiving his Air Force commission through the Academy of Military Science, Knoxville, Tennessee on April 20, 2007.  He enjoys going to Washington Nationals games and coaching his son Joey’s little league baseball teams. 
jones Mr. Kristopher Jones, grew up in Hampton,VA and graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 2010. He played 2 years of college basketball at Bluefield College before transferring to VCU and gradduated from therewith a degree in Health and Physical Education and a concentration in exercise science. This school year will be his first official year of teaching!!
key Mrs. Debbie Key, Music Teacher, teaches general music classes and co-directs PES Chorus. In addition, Mrs. Key serves as the Fairfax Pyramid General Music Lead Teacher. Providence Elementary School has a MAGNIFICENT music program, which includes general music (Kindergarten through 6th Grade), chorus (5th and 6th Grades), band (5th and 6th Grades) and strings (4th, 5th and 6th Grades). Mrs. Key is honored to be part of the Providence music team and looks forward to working with PES students this year!
oedemann Ms. Rochelle Oedemann, general music teacher, is excited to start her third year at Providence! She earned her Bachelor of Music at Oberlin College and post graduate degrees at Rice University all in Clarinet Performance. Her teaching experience includes Adjunct Professor of Clarinet at George Mason University and many private clarinet students of all levels. A former member of the United States Air Force Band, Ms. Oedemann has an experienced performance background. Her favorite pastimes include spending time with her husband, two children, and attending Zumba classes as often as possible.
poor Ms. Linda Poor, a Physical Education teacher at Providence, has been an Elementary PE teacher with Fairfax County for the past 13 years. Before becoming a PE teacher, she was a Health Club and Fitness Manager, Personal Trainer, Health Coach and Group Exercise Instructor. She a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from East Carolina University and the University of Florida. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, board games and spending time with her son.
rauch Mrs. Val Rauch, Strings Teacher, is excited to begin her 1st year at Providence ES, 7th year at Colin Powell ES, and 12th year in FCPS! She studied music and education at James Madison University and George Mason University. Her main instrument is the viola. Mrs. Rauch enjoys performing, traveling, and spending time with her husband.
schraa Ms. Stacy Schraa, Music Teacher, veteran teacher of FCPS for the past 24 years. She achieved National Board certification for Early and Middle Childhood Music in 2008 and holds an MA with emphasis in professional development from GMU. She is currently enrolled in the Supervision and Leadership program at GWU. She has one child starting sxith grade this year. She plays Guitar and Piano and enjoys performing in her band in her spare time.
sengstack Ms. Anna Sengstack, Strings Teacher, is starting her 11th year in FCPS and 7th year at Providence and her 9th year at Lanier Middle School. She graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Music in education in 2007. Her main instrument is violin, which she has played for 25 years, but can also play and teach other stringed instruments. Mrs. Sengstack has two kids, one in third grade and the other is a preschooler.  In her spare time she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
su Ms. Ping Su, Chinese FLES teacher, is excited to start her 8th year of teaching at Providence and her nineth year in FCPS. She earned her Master’s in Multicultural Education from University of Wisconsin. She loves spending her free time with her husband and three children and enjoys hiking, reading, listening to music, and playing piano.
szczepanek Mr. Szczepanek began his teaching career hear at Providence in 2005. Mr. S really enjoys pencil drawing and computer graphics/design. In his free time, he enjoys playing ice hockey and grilling out with friends. The thing he loves and enjoys the most is spending time with his wife and daughter. His favorite teams to cheer for are the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.
yuan Ms. Grace Yuan, FLES Teacher, has taught Chinese at Providence for 10 years. Grace is originally from Taiwan and received her law degree in National Taiwan University, later received a master degree in Computer Science from DePaul University in Chicago and finished her education degree at George Mason University. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and a lovely signing dog and involves a lot of church activities. She loves reading, hiking, traveling and exercising.
